Since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, China’s new leaders who also belong to the PRC generation have shown their firm belief and strong courage, giving the Chinese people confidence in upholding the Chinese path. With unprecedented achievements in fighting corruption they have also reaped praise and public support. However, China is now facing severe challenges, and the road before us is not smooth. The Chinese path that has created a miracle of development and proved that China “can do” is now confronted by the test of trials and hardships. One intention of this book is to explore the heart of this New China generation, that is, their courage to shoulder responsibilities. In the course of the interviews, the author tried to find out views of these experts and academics, while at the same time talked with them about their personal experience, sentiments and aims. This generation has always associated their personal ideals and career with the fate of the whole country; whether in good times or adversity, they consciously adhere to principles and shoulder responsibilities. Facing hardships and trials, they have persevered on the path with no regrets, because they are supported by love for the motherland. “A man’s true qualities are revealed in times of stress.” This generation’s beliefs, thoughts and sentiments constitute a most valuable resource and a source of great strength for China to overcome the current crisis and meet future challenges.
